Valsaland are a Swedish post-rock, experimental band that have put out this new single and video called, Leka. Leka is, according to Google translate, Swedish for play and the exotic and playful nature of both track and video show this. For a general idea of the sound, think of a stranger, more interesting Sigur Rós. Whether it will spawn into anything else, is yet to be seen, however, what is clear is that the music speaks miles more than the words. At least for this band.

The sparse vocals in this jovial track feel like a frightening fill and not a big one at that; these guys let the eclectic instrumentation do the singing with the brass, the strings, the bass, the drums and the piano. So far, the track feels like a small piece of something much bigger and on the same tracks of grand. To get a full understanding, we’ll just have to wait and see, as it stands, things feel rather unfinished right now.

Fingers crossed it doesn’t remain this way.
